The following pages contain comprehensive information about the process material AdBlue® - perhaps at first glance an unremarkable product, but for which there are numerous important criteria for proper use.
In order to reduce the expulsion of nitrous gasses (NOx) and particles and to meet the statutory provisions for emission protection, most engine manufacturers for trucks, cars, agricultural units, the construction industry and shipping have elected to install SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) catalytic converters as post-treatment solutions for exhaust gasses – this is where AdBlue® comes in.
The appropriate dose of AdBlue® is mixed into the exhaust stream; the product is warmed and breaks down into ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2). When the nitrous gasses from the exhaust gas line react chemically with the ammonia, the environmentally damaging NOx molecules in the exhaust stream are converted into harmless nitrogen (N) and water (H2O). The SCR Technology can reduce the nitrogen emissions by over 90%.
AdBlue® is a synthetically manufactured 32.5% urea solution. The product is as clear as water, non-toxic, environmentally sustainable and easy to handle. AdBlue® is a registered trademark of the Verband der Automobilindustrie e.V. (VDA) [German Association of the Automotive Industry]. The VDA recommends exclusively the use of products that carry the AdBlue® brand name. Products labelled urea solution or similar should not be used.
AdBlue® is produced and bottled in its own Finke mineral oil refinery. This has been QMC certified to the highest standards by the VDA – and of course by DEKRA to meet ISO 9001:2008. We are particularly proud of this.
Distribution is effected using state-of-the-art AdBlue® stainless steel tankers with a unique logistics concept. Various tank storage sites are situated throughout Germany, enabling rapid delivery of the product.
